1822 Carolath Habitat.
Letter in German written at Carolath Castle ( Schloß Carolath) in 1822.
The letter was signed by Prince at Carolath Castle ( Siedlisko) Heinrich Karl von Carolath-Beuthen (*29.11.1783 + 14.07.1864).
You can see that the letter is signed in a different handwriting ( probably by a secretary) than the handwritten signature of the prince ( signature: Heinrich Furst zu Carolath - Henry Prince of Carolath)
Preserved beautiful wax seal with the duke's coat of arms.
Castle in Siedlisko near Nowa Sol ( German: Schloss Carolath) - built on the high bank of the Oder River in 1550-1560 by Franz von Rechenberg.
It was expanded by subsequent owners - the von Schlonaichs ( their line used the titulary: von Schonaich zu Carolath-Beuthen ( from the names - Siedlisko and Beuthen - of the nearby town of Bytom Odrzanski).
It was fortified with bastions.
The castle was a significant cultural and economic center, the seat of offices.
It was one of the largest residences in Silesia.
Its splendor passed with the entry of the Red Army in 1945, which burned down the castle ( hence the great monuments of Carolath are a great rarity today...).
Watermark - a postal trumpet in the coat of arms and the inscription C & I Honig.
